I’ve been getting cold calls from a UK number for a few months now, normally around the same time in the evening and sometimes frequently, sometimes not.

Apparently it’s something called “predictive dialing” - where a computer dials a ton of numbers in a short period of time and when someone answers, it then seeks to connect you with an unoccupied sales rep, while you’re deafened by the dead silence.
